... A picture is worth a thousand words.
And indeed, one finds no suitable words when Qin Feng designs his huge pictures, in the truest sense of the word throws, yes he flings the giant brush, a big mop with a long handle exactly in the direction predetermined by him, the black ink or paint bounces with force on the screen laid out on the floor, draws an energetic, deep black web with splashes all around spilling out, which radiate radiating out of the black mass.
Qin Feng's rhythmic tai chi-like movements during this process are akin to a meditation on the move, allowing us to recapture the Chinese philosophy of Kong Fu through his energetic works - the endeavor to perfect oneself through constant movement and the inner constitution artfully through doing to bring out, in unity of mind and body? (Confucius). In Feng's paintings explosive areas of tension are visible, in which he visualizes the phases of change in balancing the forces - Ying and Yang.
It is a great pleasure and honor for us that this great artist has accepted our invitation to St. Urban. Qin Feng has prepared the complete exhibition in a residency before Easter here on site. Sometimes full nights, additionally inspired by the energy of this place of power and the unique environment of the monastery area. The Museum moca-art-st-urban joins the world's largest exhibition spaces where Qin Feng is presented in the most prestigious museums and collections, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, York, London, Venice Biennale, Art Basel?
Art-st-urban, with its versatile exhibition facilities, offers contemporary Chinese art a unique platform that we also offer the public access to. The historic area of he St. Urban Monastery with its monastic, spiritual charisma is a perfect backdrop and an exciting contrast to contemporary art from China.
